Investing in a Safer, Stronger Windsor International Airport

Windsor International Airport plays an important role in connecting the region to communities across Canada and supporting the movement of people and goods through the Canada-U.S. border corridor.

On September 16, I announced nearly $7.5 million in federal funding for critical infrastructure improvements at Windsor International Airport on behalf of Minister Steven MacKinnon.

The investment will support the rehabilitation of Runway 07-25, including new edge lighting, as well as the addition of a second airport rescue and firefighting vehicle.

These improvements will help maintain safe and reliable airport operations while supporting the airport as passenger traffic continues to grow.

Supporting Windsor’s Regional Connections

Windsor International Airport is an important part of the region’s transportation infrastructure and its connection to the broader Canada-U.S. trade corridor.

Investing in airport infrastructure helps ensure that communities have the facilities they need to support residents, businesses and visitors.

The $7,426,762 investment was provided through the Government of Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program, which supports safety-related infrastructure and equipment at eligible airports across Canada.
